Measure Progress Everyday

Are you measuring your progress everday?

A mentor of mine encouraged me to just be better today than yesterday.

By applying this principle consistently you will be able to improve any area of your life.

I began to apply this principle in my own life with my daily diet.

I started to keep a log of the foods I was eating for two weeks. I documented what I ate, how many calories, protein, and how I felt twenty minutes after I ate.

After reviewing my diet after the two weeks I was amazed how many calories I was eating, how little protein I was eating at each meal and how many meals did not include any fruits or vegetables.

One of the important things I learned was which foods were robbing me of my energy. Snacks like candy and sodas.

Snacks like candy and soda caused my blood sugar to spike and then I was tired.

When I did the research on sugar I learned that sugar burns fast where more dense foods that are high in protein and fiber and are slow burning foods. That means they will keep you from being hungry between meals.

Begin today to use this process in the areas you want to improve and this will allow you to make wise choices that will provide immediate results.

My diet today consists of high protein, high fiber foods that give me good energy all day long.

I have eliminated candy and soda from my diet and eat more fruits and vegetables at each meal and started exercising regularly which allowed me to lose over fifty pounds.

i will be fifty next month and I feel better now than I did in my twenties.

I hope this will inspire you to make better food choices and help you reach your weight and nutrition goals.

Putting Good Knowledge In Your Mind Is Like a Good Daily Diet

Putting good knowledge In your mind Is like a good daily diet

If you make it a point to plan each day to read or listen to good information you will definitely to gain healthy knowledge in your field of study. If you read or listen to bad information it will sabotage and poison your progress.

I was in a local restaurant on the Central Coast of California last week and ate a ABC burger. That is a avocado bacon cheeseburger. I have been eating a healthy diet for the last three years and have felt quite healthy for a man turning fifty this year.

However the burger I ate gave me a form of food poisoning. I was sick for the next six days. It reminded me of how many times I am working very hard and having a lot of success only to allow a comment made by someone, a past thought, or even a article I read poison my thoughts and me to be sick mentally for several days.

The moral of the story is that just as you guard what you put in your mouth helps you live longer physically guarding what you put or allow in you mind will help you stay mentally healthy.

Reach Your Goals 2012! | Plan to Succeed or Fail

Is it your desire to reach your goals in 2012? Are you planning for success or are you planning to fail.

Winston Churchill said “He who fails to plan is planning to fail”

If you want to achieve that goal to lose weight, make more money or quit smoking you must take the time to plan how you are going to do it.

If you follow these simple guidelines you will have an edge on the majority of your peers.

There are four simple steps:

1. Write out the goal you want to achieve with as much detail and make it measurable.

2. Set a deadline of when you will achieve that goal.

3. List your goal on a 3 X 5 index card as if you have already reached your goal.

4. Read your goals every morning when you wake up and every evening before you go to sleep. Visualize yourself as if you have already reached your goal.  How would you feel, what will you do now that you have reached your goal.

For example:

Goal: I want to lose 20 pounds in 2 months.

1. Today is March 11 and I have lost 20 pounds in 2 months and now I can tie my shoes without holding my breath. I feel incredible and I love the way I look!

2. Now that I have lost 20 pounds I can play with my children and I have way more energy.

3. After losing 20 pounds I can now fit in to a size 32 jeans.

The more detail and feeling you include in your declaration your desire to reach your goal will intensify.

I learned this technique from an audio recording by Earl Nightingale “The Strangest Secret”

Make 2012 the year that you take action. Go for your dreams don’t keep saying “someday I will” because someday will never come unless you take action today.

Local Losers Win Big in Arroyo Grande Weight Loss Challenge

Meet Daniel Arndt and his wife Ginger Schenk. The Arndts joined the Central Coast Weight Loss Challenge in December 2010 and in the past nine months have lost over 137 pounds and almost 85 inches combined.

Daniel was skeptical his first night at the Challenge, but began immediately to put into action the information he heard that night. The next week at weigh-in made him a believer. “I didn’t realize just how many calories I was eating until I really began to look at it.”  said Daniel.
Daniel lost 4.2 pounds his first week and Ginger lost 2.6. Daniel consistently lost over 4 pounds each week the first month. At the end of the 12-week Challenge Daniel took first place with a cash prize of $87.50* losing a total of 13.487% body weight, 42.0 pounds and 25.50 inches. Ginger took home second place with a cash prize of $52.50 for her loss of 10.629% body weight, 25.0 pounds and 14.25 inches. Daniel’s weight loss percentage earned him a place in the top three contenders for a week’s vacation to Hawaii.

The Arndts joined the next Challenge and again walked away with first and second places. People were really starting to take notice now. Ginger laughed as she recalled the UPS man finally stopping her and asked, “ ‘Please don’t be offended, but have you lost weight?’ How could I be offened? People were noticing my efforts!”

The Arndts brought three friends with them to the last Challenge.  Jamie G, inspired by Daniel and Ginger’s success became very focused and got to work. Jamie had the highest weight loss 6 out of 12 weeks and walked away with the first place prize of $147.50*. Jamie topped every category with a weight loss percentage of 13.800%, 26.8 pounds and 21.50 inches.

“The current class is the largest we’ve had so far and the first place prize is up to $200. Helping people to realize their health and weight loss goals is very rewarding.” says Valerie Stewart, a coach for the Challenge. “We acknowledge and celebrate even the smallest successes.”

During a 12-week course participants will have access to a personal success coach, accountability each week in a confidential setting and the opportunity to win cash and a Hawaiian vacation.

*Prize money dollar amount is based on the number of participants.
